Lake Lanier, a private lake, is located in Greenville County, SC between Tryon, NC and Landrum, SC. Built in 1925 by Tryon Development Company, Lake Lanier is a pristine ~130-acre mountain lake with 6 miles of shoreline. The lake has summer cottages, boathouses, and year-round waterfront homes. Residents enjoy boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, water skiing, swimming and fishing. This man-made lake should not be confused with its larger Georgia counterpart, a reservoir built 30 years later. Both lakes are named for poet Sidney Lanier who was born in Macon, Georgia and died near Tryon in 1881.
The Lake Lanier Civic Association (LLCA) is a voluntary organization for lake property owners to collectively maintain the beauty and safety of the lake and surrounding neighborhood as well as create social opportunities. It is a Civic Association, not an HOA. It conducts business at the annual meeting with membership present or through special notices mailed/emailed and voted on by proxy. The LLCA does not conduct business or comment through social media sites. Please address your concerns directly with a Board member or email your question here.
The LLCA owns and maintains the Frank Williams' Boat Landing and permits access for the property owner ONLY (per deed restrictions) with lake frontage or lake access rights in their original deed who purchase and maintain a yearly gate fob access.
